Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

SUBJECT:

Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-416 License No. NPF-13 File: 0260/L-835.0 Update Report - Loss of Power to Division 1 ESF Bus and BOP Loads LER 83-185/03 X-1 AECM-84/0132 This letter submits an update to a previous report submitted on December 20, 1983. The event for which the report was submitted occurred on December 1,1983, while in Cold Shutdown, when breaker 552-2105 from service transformer 21 tripped causing n loss of power to the Division 1 ESF bus and all BOP loads. This resulted in a reactor scram signal, a loss of RPS buses, loss of shutdown cooling, RWCU isolation, Containment / Auxiliary Building isolations, CRD "A" pump trip, SGTS initiation, Control Room SFAU initiation, and an automatic start of Diesel Generator 11. Action (a) of Technical Specification 3.4.9.2 was met. This was reported pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.1.13.b.

This update revises the estimated completion date to complete permanent corrective action. The design change to implement this action is expected to be complete by May 31, 1984. Attached is LER 83-185/03 X-1 which is a final report.
