Holtec specializes in the dismantling of nuclear power plants, and it has decades of experience in this highly-specialized field. The fact that they can decommission IPEC in 12 to 15 years, as opposed to the up to 60 years that would be allowed to Entergy, means the site can be restored for new uses by the 2030s instead of the 2080s.

Our entire region needs a fully restored industrial site that can support future development that produces jobs, wages, economic growth, and tax revenuesas soon as possible. The NRCs approval of the LTA to Holtec will ensure a better future for Rockland County and the Hudson Valley.
