S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Washington, D.C.-

20555 Attention:

Mr. James R. Miller, Chief Operating Reactors Branch 3 Gentlemen:

DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 AUXILIARY FEEDWATER SYSTEM OPERABILITY POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT On July 27, 1982, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued Amendment Nos. 62 and 67 to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-24 and DPR-27, respectively, for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.

These amendments modified the limiting conditions for operation in the Technical Specifications with respect to auxiliary feedwater pump operations.

These revisions to the Specification had been proposed in our letters dated April 27, May 5 and June 30, 1982.

In addition to these Technical Specifications changes with respect to auxiliary feedwater pump operability, the above referenced Wisconsin Electric letters also proposed, as requested by the Commission, Technical Specification changes regarding testing of automatic actuation circuitry for the auxiliary feed-water pumps.

As discussed in your July 27, 1982 letter, these changes were not issued pending our notification to you of the completion of the circuitry modification necessary to permit such testing.

This letter.is to advise you that these modifica-tions have been completed on both Point Beach units.

The pending Technical Specification changes may, therefore, be issued at this time.

We have also advised Mr. Colburn of your Staff of the completion of these modifications.

Should you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact me.
