Dear Sir:
As required by EPA Permit No. 0025615, the following information is provided in regard to a reportable occurrence at Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit #1:
EPA Discharge #013, Unit #2 Sewage Treatment Plant, was found to be out of specification in total suspended solids (79.4 pounds / day) on September 30, 1983. A sample taken on October 3,1983, was within specification.-
The problem was determined to be caused by excessive solid build-up in the plant clarifier coupled with a high flowrate. The following corrective actions have been taken:
(1) The clarifier settling tank will have its solids , removed by a licensed hauler on a more frequent basis.
(2) Operation of the aeration pumps shall be. changed so that there is at least one pump running at all times. This shall insure continuous operation of the clarifier skimmers.
