US NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON D C 20555 DOCKET 50-312 RANCHO SEC0 NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION N0 1 INTRUST 0N DETECTION SYSTEM Your letter of July 14, 1981, requested information about our efforts to reduce the number of false / nuisance alarms in the Rancho Seco Unit 1 Intrusion Detection System.

Since that time, the District held a meeting at the Rancho Seco site on July 28 and 29 with Dale Kers and Gene Power, of the NRC, to discuss our physical security plan. At this meeting, the nuisance alarm rate was discussed as were our efforts to reduce this rate. We agreed at this meeting to determine an acceptable target size and then propose a change to our security plan with a revised nuisance alarm rate. This informa-tion and a proposed revision to our physical security plan will be submitted by September 30, 1981.
