Congressman Bob Eckhardt (D-TX) is Chairman
'of'the Subcommittee.
The NRC will be requested to testify on the first day of the hearings and will be expected to lay the groundwork for subsequent hearir:gs.
The hearings will. focus on -the generic issue of construction problems
- associated with nuclear power plants vis-a-vis an adeq'uate 'or inadequate project management structure utilized by a given utility.
The Subcomittee is interested in the following as applied to. South; Texas.

A brief chronology of the events leading up to the present-day situation at South Texas 2.
Why did the af. fairs get to the point where a complete investi-jj gation by.the NRC became necessary 3.
What NRC corrc~ctive action is underway The..Subcomittee, in 'its oversight capacity, will be interested in j-7
- examining the regulatory role of the NRC and has expressed interest in o cf '
knowing the impact of the implementation of the " Action Plan" as it 8 "-.
