RESEARCH REACTORS As you know the agency is focusing more attention on the issue of research reactors including how we inspect them end resulting enforcement action.
In the interest of consistency of application of requirements to research reactors, (c
please forward all enforcement actions with the associated inspection reports il
. involving research reactors to S. H. Weiss, Standard and Non-Power Reactors, 1
NRR prior to issuance..If you have not heard from NRR within two weeks of sending the package by 5520, you may issue the case. Send copies to OE and OGC only if the case involves escalated action in accordance with the normal practice.
If you have any questions on this matter, please call me or Jim Luehman This guidance will be effective for the next six months.
