DOCKET NOS. 50-266 AND 50-301 m PROMPT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 This is in response to your letter da'ted July 1, 1981.
In our letter of June 2, 1981 to Mr. H. R. Denton, we described our plans for meeting the criteria of 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Section IV.D.3, and discussed the schedule for installation of the system. The interim compensating action which has been taken to fulfill the aforementioned rule consists of the county mobile notification plan exercised on January 21, 1981 and reviewed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) . The mobila notification plan involves County Sheriff and local police deputies notifying people by loudspeaker and personal contact. This notification system is coupled with a Wisconsin Division of Emergency Government (DEG) program which disseminates further emergency information via the Emergency Broadcast System.
Due to necessary discussions with FEMA, Wisconsin DEG, ,
and Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties and to the time required ror evaluation and re7ision of manufacturer's bids, we have experienced delays in the installation of the final Prompt Notification System.
We project that completion and demonstration of the final system will occur about February 1, 1982.
