June 4, 1981 FACILITY _: Davis-Besse Unit 1 IDENTIFICATION OF OCCURRENCE: Containment H2 Analyzer, AT 5027, Inoperable.

The unit was in Mode 1, with Power (MWT) = 2024 Conditions Prior to Occurrence:

Description of occurrence: On June 4,1981 at 1425 hours0.0165 days <br />0.396 hours <br />0.00236 weeks <br />5.422125e-4 months <br />, during the performance of the Containment Vessel Atmosphere H2 Analyzer Calibration Test ST 5065.01, on The calibration had progressed to the AT 5027, the calibration zero gas ran out. D:signation of Apparent Cause of occurrence: The cause of the occurrence was starting the test without having sufficient zero gas to complete the calibration.

The reason for not having sufficient gas was that there was no guidance in the tzst procedure to insure there was an adequate supply of zero calibration gas to complete the test.

Analysis of Occurrence: There was no danger to the health and safety of the public or to unit personnel. Containment H 2Analyzer AT 5028 was operable during this

• time.

Corrective Action: On June 20, 1981, additional zero gas 5065.01. Thewas obtained analyzer was and the declared calibration of AT 5027 was completed per ST operable and the station recoved from the action statement of Technical Specifi-Under Temporary Procedure Modification T-5581, a note was aaded cation 3.6.4.1. to check the gas pressure and submit a work request when it to Procedure ST 5065.01 is found to be below 200 psig. This will ensure an adequate supply is always avail-cbic.

Failure Data: There has been no previous report of a similar failure due,to procedural deficiency.
