1.ER ATTACHMENT - RO #1-81-35 Facility: BSEP Unit No. 1 Event Date:

3-15-81 From the investigation of this event it was concluded that moisture buildup in the torus sample line to the CAC 1259 monitor occurred as a result of the present sample line. 'The sample line to the torus contains a " low point" in the line just as it exits the drywell. High moisture sample flow condenses in the line once it leaves the drywell and collects in this low point thus creating a low flow to the monitor. A partion of this condensate also enters the monitor which causes additional problems. The spike noted on the 1263 monitor when it was positioned to sample the torus was also caused by the moisture problem.

Due to a history of problems resulting from the CAC 02 and H2 monitors, a plant modification has been written to replace these monitors with others of a better design, and to correct the problem of low points in the sample lines.
