Dear Dr. Charlton:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff is continuing its review of the University of Texas at Austin (UT) application for renewal of Facility Operating License No. R-129, for the Nuclear Engineering Teaching Laboratory (NETL) nuclear research reactor, dated December 12, 2011 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
Accession No. ML12156A097), as supplemented by letter dated February 21, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12061A009). The license renewal review includes a review of the UT NETL physical security plan (PSP), dated December 7, 2016. The NRC staff review included a request for additional (RAI), by letter dated April 5, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18060A063).
By letter dated July 31, 2018 (ADAMS Accession No. ML18225A064), UT staff have requested an extension to September 30, 2018, to provide responses to the PSP RAIs. The NRC staff acknowledges that UT staff have completed all but one (1) RAI, and find the new response date of September 30, 2018, to be acceptable.
