Although evidence showed that the thimbles separated before the plant shutdown, there was no effect on plant operation because the associated detectors were still fully operable and the system is designed with a high degree of redundancy. This item is being reported as a potentially generic problem. This is the first event of its type at St. Lucie. (335-78-11)
