Loss of Meteorological Instrumentation, Air Temperature ~T CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 Reactor Power 100%

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

While performing normal watchstation duties, it was noted the 150' -

33' Air Temperature Delta T instrument had failed in the Control Room.

An investigation revealed the instrument had failed at the Meteoro-logical Tower also.

Action Statement 3.3.3.4a was entered at 0045 hours5.208333e-4 days <br />0.0125 hours <br />7.440476e-5 weeks <br />1.71225e-5 months <br /> which requires the meteorological monitoring instrumentation channels to be operable at all times.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

The investigation by the service representative determine a solder connection had broken on a test jack.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

Repeated use of the test connection places a slight strain on the solder connection and over an extended period of time the connection broke.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The service representative repaired the broken connection on June 3, 1980.

The instrument was tested satisfactorily and the Action Statement was terminated at 1317 hours0.0152 days <br />0.366 hours <br />0.00218 weeks <br />5.011185e-4 months <br /> on June 3, 1980.
