Missed Surveillance CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 Reactor Power 100%

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

In reviewing the surveillance requirements for Unit 2 fuel load, it was discovered the equivalent surveillance, 4.7.10.l.2(cl), for Unit 1 had not been completed.

The surveillance requires at least once per 18 mopths, during shutdown, the fire pump diesel engine shall be proved operable by subjecting the diesel to an inspection in accordance with procedures prepared in conjunction with its manufacturer's recommendations for the class of service.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

Personnel error *

. ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

The surveillance requirement had not beep previously identified and when noted, it was determined based on the number of hours of operation, no inspection was necessary.

A tracking mechanism was not utilized to ensure any necessary inspections were completed on time.

. CORRECTIVE ACTION:

Based on discussions with the manufacturer, no inspection was necessary.

The tracking system has been corrected to ensure the surveillance requirements are reviewed periodically.
