  • By letter dated August 30, 1989, Consumers. Power Company informed.the NRC of its plan to raise power at the Palisades Plaht above the current operating level of 80%; *The stated purpose of this evolution is to provide a two-week period at elevated power levels prior to shutdown for the upcoming plant maintenance outage in order to collett ~ata for use in analyzing steam generator tube leakage.

Included with the August 30 letter was your proposed Power Increase Plan Criteria. This plan indicates that you will increase to 90% of rated power in 5% increments beginning on or around September 13, 1989.

Also included in the plan were £onservative riperating criteria which if exceeded would prompt power reductions or a plant shutdown.

We have reviewed the information provided and have no objections to the planned power increase as described in your letter.
