Auxiliary Pressurizer Spray.
Dear Mr. Knighton:
The referenced letters committed to performing the following modifications to the PVNGS Uni,t 2 Chemical and Volume Control System (CVCS) prior to exceeding 5X power on PVNGS Unit 2.
(1)
Provide automatic realignment of valves CH-501, and 536 on Lo-Lo VCT level and Loss of Offsite
- Power, to align the charging pump suction to the refueling water tank.

Mr. George W. Knighton Confirmation of Completion of Modifications to the Chemical and Volume Control System ANPP-36278 Page 2
(2)
Modify the VCT level instrumentation to improve the reliability of the level indication.
These modifications to the PVNGS Unit 2 CVCS have been completed in accordance with the commitments made in the referenced letters.
Reference (4) committed to perform a
daily inspection of the VCT level instrument reference leg.
This inspection was to remain in effect until the issue was properly resolved by design modifications to the VCT level instruments.
These design modifications have been completed in PVNGS Unit 2 by the addition of separate reference legs to the existing VCT level transmitters.
A signal comparator has also been added to the level transmitters which will initiate an alarm in the main control room to alert the operators of a possible malfunction of either of the level transmitters.
The signal comparator performs a
continuous monitoring function of the VCT level instruments and eliminates the need to perform the daily inspection of the level instruments.
Therefore, ANPP is discontinuing the daily inspection of the level instruments in PVNGS Unit 2
and the daily inspection will be discontinued in PVNGS Unit 1 upon completion of the modification to the Unit 1 VCT level instrumentation.
If you have any additional questions on this
- matter, please contact Mr. W. F. guinn of my staff.
Very truly yours, EEVB/BJA/dim E. E.
