I am responding to your letter of January 4, 2017 , in which you request that the U.S.
Regulatory Commission (NRC) convene a public meeting in Massachusetts as soon as possible to answer the public's questions about the safety of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant (Pilgrim) .
As you know, the NRG staff is currently completing the third and final week of onsite inspection resulting from Pilgrim 's 2015 placement in the Repetitive Degraded Cornerstone Column , or Column 4, of the NRC's reactor oversight process action matrix.
I have discussed your request with the NRG staff, and they have begun planning for a public meeting as suggested in your letter. The staff will work with you to establish the time ,
date, and location of the meeting and will issue a public meeting notice.
