1. JPM A1.1 K/A 2.1.43 was selected and tested on the last RO Exam; was the K/A randomly selected?

RESPONSE

The previous two exams included reactivity calculations all of which test similar knowledge and abilities. Recommend replacement of the selected K/A with one that does not involve a reactivity calculation.

RESPONSE: Selected another K/A (2.1.20) Reactor Water Inventory Balance

2. JPM A2 K/A 2.2.13 has been selected and tested on two of the last three exams; was the K/A randomly selected?

RESPONSE

These exams tested the preparation/review of tagouts/clearances.

Recommend selecting a different K/A that doesnt involve safety tagging/clearances.

RESPONSE: Selected another K/A (2.2.15) Use plant drawings to determine how to isolate a leak.

2. JPM A4 Two of the last three SRO exams have included JPMs to classify emergency events and make notifications. Recommend selecting a JPM that does not involve an emergency classification.

RESPONSE: Selected another K/A Task to initiate notification of ERO.

C. Control Room Systems/In-Plant JPMs - No Comments D. Simulator Scenarios

1. ES-301-5 Recommend testing a crew with two ROs and the Upgrade SRO and a crew with two of the SROIs using a Surrogate in the BOP position.
2. Scenario 1, Event 6 Evaluate whether BOP should get a NORMAL credit for power reduction.

RESPONSE: Determined that BOP should NOT get a NORMAL credit for power reduction.

3. Scenario 1, Event 7 Are the automatic reactor trip functions also disabled? Auto trips must be disabled to take credit for the Critical Task.

RESPONSE: AUTO trips are disabled.

4. Scenario 2, Event 7 What is the feasibility of three Nis failing at the same time?

RESPONSE: Highly unlikely, but only way to exercise the AOP action.

5. Scenario 2, Event 6/Scenario 3, Event 5 The BOP should probably get credit for a NORMAL evolution associated with the Power Reduction RESPONSE: Will evaluate during validation.

RESPONSE: Determined that BOP should NOT get a NORMAL credit for power reduction.

6. Scenario 3, Event 2 Why is response to the PORV leak a Critical Task? Does the leak exceed the capacity of the MU/ECCS?

RESPONSE: Leak does not exceed capacity of MU/ECCS. Reclassified as a non-critical task.

POST EXAM COMMENT - Should have remained a Critical Task, since failure to complete task significantly impacts the mitigation of the subsequent Steam Generator Tube Rupture.
