This letter informs the Board that the Staff has revised the schedule for its safety and environmental reviews for the Seabrook license renewal application. The Staffs projected schedule is attached to this submission. The Staff previously anticipated that publication of the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement would occur in October 2014, and was unable to project a completion date of the safety review. The Staff currently anticipates publication of the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement in February 2015 and publication of the Final Safety Evaluation Report in November 2015.

SCHEDULE REVISION FOR THE REVIEW OF THE SEABROOK STATION NUCLEAR PLANT LICENSE, RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO. ME4028)
Dear Mr. Curtland:
By letter dated May 25, 2010, NextEra Energy Seabrook, LLC submitted an application pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 51 and 10 CFR Part 54, to renew the Operating License No. NPF-86 for Seabrook Station, Unit 1 (Seabrook), for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). This letter is to inform you of a change in the schedule for the Seabrook license renewal review.
Regarding the staffs safety review, by letter dated May 31, 2012, the staff issued a letter revising the environmental and safety review schedules. The safety review schedule was modified with TBD (To Be Determined) as the milestone dates for issuing a final Safety Evaluation Report (SER) and convening the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) full committee meeting, due to the uncertainty in the amount of time required to fully resolve the alkali-silica reaction (ASR) open item. By letter dated December 16, 2013, the staff issued a letter again revising the environmental and safety review schedules. This revision established a milestone for a second ACRS sub-committee meeting to discuss resolution of the ASR open item, also with TBD as its milestone date.
In the interests of greater transparency and planning, achievable milestone dates have been set for the second ACRS sub-committee meeting, SER publication and ACRS full committee meetings. These dates assume timely and adequate responses to staff RAIs and the staffs determination that the proposed activities to manage the effects of aging due to ASR, as well as all other open items, comply with 10 CFR Part 54.
Regarding the staffs environmental review, by letter dated July 2, 2014, the staff issued a letter revising the environmental review schedule. This revision established an October 2014 issuance date for the final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS). In finalizing the final SEIS, the staff has been reviewing all of the comments submitted on the draft SEIS issued in 2011 and has determined that more time is needed to ensure complete and up-to-date responses are provided. The new issuance date for the final SEIS is February 2015.
