"At approximately 0903 CDT on September 03, 2014, a dead turtle was removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The turtle was confirmed by a site biological expert to be a Kemp Ridley's, an endangered species. Kemp Ridley's turtles are federally listed as endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this condition warrants 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a.

"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 0949 CDT and the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at 0944 CDT, concerning the Kemp Ridley's turtle by Environmental Licensing."

Notified R1DO (Ferdas) and Endangered Species Group via email.
