"At approximately 0930 [EST] on December 26th, 2013, two live sturgeons were removed from the Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. At approximately 1040 on December 26th, 2013, a third dead sturgeon was removed from the Circulating Water System (CWS) intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. Two of the three sturgeons were confirmed by a site biological expert to be Atlantic Sturgeons and the third was confirmed to be a Short Nose Sturgeon, which are 'endangered' species.

Atlantic and Short Nose Sturgeons are federally listed as 'endangered' species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hour4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a. At approximately 1115, the two live sturgeons were released back into the Delaware River. A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 1200 and the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at 1206, concerning the Atlantic Sturgeon by Environmental Licensing.

Notified the R1DO (Dwyer) and the Endangered Species Group (via e-mail).
