Southern California Edison Company P. 0. BOX 800 2244 WALNUT GROVE AVENUE ROSEMEAD, CALIFORNIA 91770 M.O.MEDFORD TELEPHONE MANAGER OF NUCLEAR ENGINEERING (818) 302-1749 AND LICENSING April 25, 1988 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention:
Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:
Subject:
Docket No. 50-206 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By letter dated December 24, 1987, SCE transmitted a report to the NRC which described the methodology which would be used to transship spent fuel from San Onofre Unit 1 to San Onofre Units 2 and 3. Since that submittal, changes have occurred in the methodology and in the structural design. Therefore, included as an enclosure is a report entitled "Transshipment of San Onofre Unit 1 Spent Fuel," dated April 1988.
This report supercedes the report transmitted to the NRC on December 24, 1987.
As a result of NRC staff review of the previous submittals, questions have been raised. Responses to NRC questions and concerns regarding this issue will be transmitted as a supplement to the enclosed report.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please call me.
Very truly yours, Enclosure cc: 3. B. Martin, Regional Administrator, NRC Region V F. R. Huey, NRC Senior Resident Inspector, San Onofre Units 1, 2 and 3 PPDR ADC 0500PD
