20555 Gentlemen:

Subject:

Docket No. 50-206 Proposed Change No. 126 to the Technical Specifications San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By [[letter::05000362/LER-1983-104-03, /03L-0:on 831205,high Auxiliary Feedwater (AFW) Flow Rate Erroneously Indicated When No Flow Existed.Steam Generator E-089 AFW Flow Rate Channel Declared Inoperable. Caused by Loose Voltage Converter Terminal|letter dated December 30, 1983]], we submitted a request for additional consideration of the removal of Technical Specification 4.4.E as part of Proposed Change No. 126 to the San Onofre Unit 1 Technical Specifications submitted on November 30, 1983. Subsequently, the NRC staff has identified potential inconsistencies regarding the requirements of 4.4.E.

It has been determined that the best way to resolve these concerns is to include the removal of 4.4.E in an upcoming proposed change to the Technical Specifications which will include all changes resulting from equipment modifications to the Auxiliary Feedwater System accomplished as a result of the TMI Lessons Learned requirements.

It is therefore requested that no additional consideration be given to the removal of Technical Specification 4.4.E as part of Proposed Change No. 126. The removal of this surveillance requirement will be handled as part of a future proposed change.
