SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC SCOPING MEETINGS CONDUCTED RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE SEOUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NOS. MF0057 AND MF0058)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted environmental scoping meetings related to the review of the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SON) license renewal applications submitted by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Two public meetings were conducted on April 3, 2013, at the Soddy Daisy City Hall in Soddy Daisy, TN. Approximately 80 people attended the meetings. The attendees included members of the NRC staff, members of the public, representatives from TVA, news media, and local government officials. Public comments and questions were mainly focused on the concerns regarding emergency preparedness, ~ging management, design safety, human health and radiological exposure, environmental impacts, radioactive waste storage and disposal, flooding, seismic, and other Fukushima type accidents.

A combined listing of attendees for both sessions is provided in Enclosure 1. Enclosure 2 is a copy of the meeting handouts including the slides used during the NRC's presentation.

Enclosures 3 and 4 contain the official corrected transcripts for the afternoon and evening meetings, respectively.
