OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL HELD ON JUNE 23,2010, BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND ENTERGY OPERATIONS, INC. REGARDING PROGRESS ON NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA) STANDARD 805 TRANSITION ACTIVITIES A teleconference was held between representatives of Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (ENO) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to discuss progress on the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP) National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 805 transition activities. ENO submitted "Palisades NFPA 805 Project Milestones" table (see Enclosure 1) which provides the list of NFPA 805 transition activities and their status. The enclosure provides the status of each task and shows several of the tasks as complete. The licensee reported that all the tasks were on track and there were no other concerns with respect to meeting the final license amendment request issuance date of December 31, 2010. In accordance with the schedule submitted by the licensee, the final fire probabilistic risk assessment peer review has been scheduled for the week of August 22, 2010. NRC staff expressed the desire to participate in this review.

However, NRC participation in the peer review has not been finalized with the licensee.

Background

On December 9, 2008 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML083260577), NRC staff granted additional enforcement discretion to Palisades. ENO in its letter dated November 25, 2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML083370155),

made a commitment to conduct a monthly teleconference with the NRC staff to discuss progress on the PNP NFPA 805 transition activities.

7.17.5 - The Final Fire PRA Peer Review has been moved to August to accommodate model completion and vendor alignment issues.
