Duane Arnold Energy Center Application for Renewed Operating License TSCR-1 09 Pursuant to the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Parts 50, 51, and 54, FPL Energy Duane Arnold, LLC (hereafter, FPL Energy Duane Arnold) hereby applies for renewal of the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC) Facility Operating License No. DPR-49, which expires at midnight on February 21, 2014.

By this application, FPL Energy Duane Arnold requests that the DAEC Facility Operating License be extended for 20 years beyond the current expiration date.

The application is filed within the interval specified in 10 CFR 54.17(c) and meets the timeliness requirements of 10 CFR 2.109(b). The application also applies to the source, special nuclear and by-product materials licenses that are subsumed in the facility operating license.

FPL Energy Duane Arnold submits the enclosed DAEC "Application for Renewed Operating License" in accordance with the applicable NRC operating license renewal requirements of 10 CFR Parts 54 and 51. The application includes the "Applicant's Environmental Report - Operating License Renewal Stage" (Environmental Report) prepared pursuant to 10 CFR 54.23 and 10 CFR Part 51, Subpart A.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 54.21(b), current licensing basis changes which have a material effect on the content of this application will be identified annually while the application is under NRC review, and at least three months prior to the scheduled completion of the NRC review.

The Licensee Commitments identified in Table A-1 of Appendix A, Duane Arnold Updated Final Safety Analysis Report Supplement, are proposed to support approval of the renewed operating license and may change during the NRC review period.
