SUBJECT:

Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Docket No. 50-412, License No. NPF-73 Supplement to Response to Nuclear Regulatory Commission Request for Additional Information Regarding the Estimated Effect on Peak Cladding Temperature Resulting from Thermal Conductivity Degradation in the Westinghouse-Furnished Realistic Emergency Core Cooling System Evaluation (TAC Nos. ME8409 and ME8410)

By letter dated June 11, 2012, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) submitted a response to a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) request for additional information (RAI) dated May 4, 2012 (Accession No. ML121150501) for Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2. The RAI was related to FENOC's March 16,2012 (Accession No. ML12079A111) response to an NRC information request made pursuant to 10 CFR 50.54(f) regarding the estimated effect on peak cladding temperature resulting from thermal conductivity degradation in the Westinghouse Electric Company LLC (Westinghouse) furnished realistic emergency core cooling evaluation . In accordance with 10 CFR 50.46(a)(3), the March 16, 2012 response also served as a 30-day report of a significant emergency core cooling system evaluation model change or error.

Upon submittal of the June 11, 2012 response, the NRC identified that the affidavit enclosed in the response erroneously referenced a Westinghouse letter to FENOC rather than a FENOC letter to the NRC. Additionally, the superscripts that correspond to sections of the Westinghouse affidavit that identify the bases for nondisclosure were inadvertently omitted from the FENOC submittal.

Beaver Val/ey Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 L-12-287 Page 2 FENOC is hereby providing a revised RAI response that contains the appropriate affidavit reference and incorporates the associated superscripts. Attachment 1, with superscripts incorporated, provides the proprietary version of the response to the NRC's May 4,2012 RAI. A revised affidavit from Westinghouse, the owner of the proprietary information that is sought to be withheld pursuant to 10 CFR 2.390, is provided in Enclosure A. Attachment 2, with superscripts incorporated, provides a nonproprietary version of the response. FENOC requests that the Westinghouse proprietary information provided in Attachment 1 be withheld from public disclosure. Once has been separated from this letter, the letter can be decontrol/ed.

There are no regulatory commitments contained in this letter. If there are any questions or if additional information is required, please contact Mr. Phil H. Lashley, Supervisor-Fleet Licensing, at (330) 315-6808.

I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on August Is , 2012.

Sincerely,

~/J
