SUBJECT: ASSESSMENT FOLLOW-UP LETTER FOR RIVER BEND STATION (INSPECTION REPORT NUMBER 05000458/2014009)
Dear Mr. Olson:
As a result of our continuous review of plant performance, the NRC updated its assessment of River Bend Station on October 13, 2014. The NRC's evaluation consisted of a review of performance indicators and inspection results. This letter informs you of the NRC's assessment of and its plans for a future inspection at your facility. This letter supplements, but does not supersede, the mid-cycle assessment letter issued on September 2, 2014. (ML14239A413) On September 24, 2014, the NRC issued Inspection Report 05000458/2014406 which informed you of the final significance determination of a Greater-than-Green inspection finding in the Security Cornerstone. The finding was previously documented in NRC Inspection Report 05000458/2014405, issued on July 16, 2014.
Based on issuance of a Greater-than-Green inspection finding in the Security Cornerstone, the NRC determined the performance at River Bend Station to be in the Regulatory Response Column of the NRC's Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix beginning in the second quarter of 2014. Therefore, the NRC plans to conduct a supplemental inspection. The NRC requests that your staff provide notification of your readiness for the NRC to conduct this supplemental inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, its enclosure, and your response, if you choose to provide one, will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from theNRC's document system (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
