Areas Inspected: Included a review of the circumstances pertaining to a weapon fired on July 12, 1985 and the licensee's action pertaining to the incident. A review of the licensee's weapon safety / control program was also conducted. The inspection involved 15 inspector-hours by one NRC inspector. The inspection began during the day shif Results: One violation was noted during the inspection. The violation met the criteria in 10 CFR Part, Appendix C,Section IV.A as a licensee idcntified item. Therefore, a Notice of Violation was not issue Security Organization: A weapon was fired under circurastances not authorized by the licensee's Security Pla The licensee's investigation of the weapon firing incident was considered adequate. Corrective actions to prevent recurrence of the incident also appeared adequate.
