Safeguards Section Nuclear Materials safety and Safeguards Branch Divisior, of Radiation Safety and Safeguards SUMMARY Scope:

This toutine, unannnunced inspection was conducted in the areas of Physical Barrit.rs, Intrusion Dete:: tion Alarms, Communication, Contingency Operations, Compensatory Mee.suras, Access Control (Personnel and Vehicles), Alarm Stations, Lighting, Security Force Annual Audit, and Training and Qualification.

Results:

In the areas inspected, violations or deviations were not identified. The licensee continues to provide strong support for the security programs, audits j

were a strength, as well as the continued maintenance support to re-constrhet equipment to pre-Hurricane Andrew conditions. Two licensee initiated drills were observed and in both drills the on duty security force was capable of

,

responding to the contingency and neutralized the situation. The inspector noted, while conducting lighting surveys, that in some areas the pro *ected area lighting was less than 0.2 footcandles but in compliance with the commitments of the Physical Security Plan.
