General The purpose of this inspection was to review the data, procedures and documentation related to the nondestructive examinations per-
formed during 1974, as a part of the licensee's In-Service
Inspection Program.

during 1974, coepicted the first interval of the licensee's In-Service Inspection Program.)

The inspector reviewed the examination procedures provided by

j the licensee's contractor and found them to meet the requirements of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI.

inspector also found that examination results were being recorded j
in accordance with these procedures.

The inspector reviewed documentation of examination personnel j
qualifications and found them to be in compliance with SNT-TC-1A,

the governing document.

In-Service Inspection Program s
A review was made of-licensee's Inservice Inspection Program which'
is described by letter to the Division of Reactor Licensing of August 30, 1971 and the testing program outlined by an attachment to the letter.
The letter stated in part
" Yankee adopted an

The inspector found that the final testing surmnary showed that

l the licensee's examination contradtor did not perform e resin i
examinations in accordance with the requirements outlined in i
Table 1 of the licensee's In-Service Inspection Program. The examination omissions included: 1) visual examination of the reactor vessel penetrations; 2) volumetric examination

l of the integrally welded pressurizer vessel supports; and 3)

visual and surface examination of the primary nozzle-to-vessel I
head welds of the stean generators.
