Dear Sir:

The purpose of this letter is for Florida Power Corporation (FPC) to provide the NRC with the necessary information in support of the commitment provided in Reference I to develop the plan and schedule for the Large Bore Piping Project by June 30,1998.

In References 2 and 3, FPC committed to implement a Large Bore Piping Project over the next 2-3 /

refueling outages (4-6 years). This project is to include walkdowns of safety-related large bore j piping and piping supports and upcate of the affected design drawings and analysis documentation.

FPC has prepared the plan and schedule for this project as shown in the Attachment (Large Bore Piping Project Schedule). Additionally, project information will be discussed with the NRC staff at a meeting tentatively scheduled near the end of July 1998, in the NRC's offices. h(2)/
