Revision to Submittal Date for llot Leg injection via Reverse Flow Method of Post LOCA Baron Precipitation Control

Reference:

FPC to NRC letter,3F1097-32, dated October 31,1997, " License Amendment Request #223, Revision 0; Post LCCA Horon Precipitation Prmation"

Dear Sir:

This letter provides Florida Power Corporation's (FPC) revised schedule for submitting the hot leg injection via reverse flow method of post loss of coolant accident (LOCA) boron precipitation control for NRC review. FPC hereby revises the expected submittal date for this letter from November 14,1997, as provided in the referenced letter, to February 27,1998. The change in schedule is necessary due to revisions to analyses associated with License Amendment Request (LAR) #223, " Post-LOCA Horon Precipitation Prevention." These revisions were rmmpted by a more detailed review of analysis inputs and assumptions associated with the LAR i analyses. The revisions to the calculation for hot leg injection via reverse flow have not

, aged the conclusion that this method will be effective in controlling post-LOCA baron precipitation. Reliance on this method of boron dilutica is not required prior to the restart of Crystal River Unit 3 and is not credited in LAR #223.

This commitment is reflected in the attached table. If you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact Mr. David Kunsemiller, Manager, Nuclear Licensing at (352) S63-4566.

Sincerely, l .
