DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY/FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, MANITOWOC COUNTY EXERCISE DEFICIENCY FINDING TRANSMITTAL LETTER TO POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT

Dear Mr. Meyer:

We received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region V letter, dated May 7, 2012, for the April 17, 2012, full participation plume exposure pathway exercise at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant (ADAMS Accession No. ML12138A173).

One Deficiency finding was identified by FEMA Region V staff. The Deficiency finding for Manitowoc County was identified under Criterion 5.a.1. - Activation of the Prompt Alert and Notification System. This issue was presented to the Exercise participants during the Participants Meeting on April 20, 2012.

We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions, which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
