Dear Mr. Coffey:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved the enclosed exemption from specific requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 50.46, Acceptance criteria for emergency core cooling systems for light-water nuclear power reactors, to allow the use of a risk-informed methodology in lieu of a deterministic methodology to evaluate the effects of debris in containment following a loss-of-coolant accident for Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2. This action is in response to your application dated July 29, 2022, as supplemented by letter dated June 9, 2023.
A copy of the exemption is enclosed. The exemption has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
