NRC STAFF MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME INTRODUCTION By Memorandum and Order of October 28,1993, the Licensing Board granted San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace's (MFP) unopposed motion for an extension of time in which to file its findings of fact and conclusions of law in this proceeding, thus 4

i extending by two weeks the due date for the findings of MFP and the Staff and the reply findings of PG&E. By this revised schedule, MFP's findings were due November 19, 1993, and the Staff's on December 10, 1993, with PG&E's reply findings due December 20,1993. MFP filed its findings on November 19th, as scheduled, and the Staff received its copy on November 22nd.

As the Licensing Board is aware, MFP's findings are 300 pages in length and 270 of those pages address documents that MFP introduced into evidence at the hearing.

The Staff has been working diligently since the close of the hearing but nevenheless will be hard pressed to file findings addressing the hundreds of documents consisting of thousands of pages and MFP's findings characterizing those documents by December 10th.

MOTION Wherefore, the Staff requests the Licensing Board to extend the date for the i Staff to file its findings until December 22,1993. PG&E's counsel has stated that PG&E does not object to the extension provided that its time for filing is also extended. PG&E asked the Staff to request the Board to extend its filing date until December 30,1993.

MFP's counsel has indicated that MFP has no objection to the extension.
