No: I-22-016 November 23, 2022 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Schedules Decommissioning Webinar for Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Preparedness and Security Requirements Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will conduct a webinar on Nov. 30 to discuss emergency preparedness and security requirements for nuclear power plants undergoing decommissioning, with a focus on New Yorks Indian Point nuclear power plant. The session will be general in nature and intended primarily for stakeholders interested in such requirements.

The webinar is scheduled for 3-4:30 p.m., Eastern Time, and will be video streamed via Microsoft Teams. Attendees may also access the webinar by phone at 301-576-2978, ID number: 710275896. The slides will be posted in the NRCs electronic documents system, ADAMS.

Presentations will be made by staff from the NRCs Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards and Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, followed by a question-and-answer session.

NRC staff will also participate in the Indian Point Decommissioning Oversight Board meeting on Dec. 7, where NRC staff will present information regarding the agencys inspection and licensing activities for the dry cask storage of the plants spent nuclear fuel.
