No: I-23-008 June 29, 2023 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, have selected Anthony Tran as the new resident inspector at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant in Lusby, Maryland. He joins NRC senior resident inspector Gene DiPaolo at the two-unit site operated by Constellation Nuclear.
Tran joined the NRC in June 2022 and, while taking part in an extensive inspector qualification program, has served as the acting resident inspector at LaSalle Generating Station in Illinois. He graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a bachelors degree in chemical engineering. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy as a nuclear instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Charleston, South Carolina.
Anthonys Naval experience, training and education make him a good fit at Calvert Cliffs, said NRC Region I Administrator Ray Lorson. He and Gene will work together to ensure the plant continues to operate safely and in accordance with our regulations.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. Resident inspectors can serve up to seven years at a reactor site.
