No: I-22-009 July 28, 2022 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Ginna Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, have selected Chris Swisher as the resident inspector at the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, New York. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Jason Schussler at the single-unit site operated by Constellation Nuclear.

Chris and Jason will be a good team, working together to carry out our extensive inspection and oversight program at Ginna, said Region I Administrator David Lew.

Together theyll assure Ginna continues to operate safely and in accordance with our regulations.

Swisher began his NRC career in September 2020, as a project engineer in the NRCs Region I office. Since then, he completed a rigorous training program before being selected as a resident inspector.

Prior to joining the NRC, Swisher worked as a nuclear shift test engineer at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and as a shift refueling engineer at the Naval Reactors Facility in Idaho. He earned a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and was an NRC-licensed operator at the universitys research reactor.

At least two NRC resident inspectors are assigned to each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.

Resident inspectors can serve at a reactor site for up to seven years.
