No: I-24-017 October 1, 2024 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Ginna Nuclear Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Kyle Poolman as its new resident inspector at the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario, New York. The single-unit site is operated by Constellation Nuclear. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Chris Swisher at Ginna.
Poolman joined the NRC in 2023 as a project engineer through the Resident Inspector Development Program in the Region III Office in Lyle, Illinois. Before joining the agency, he served in the U.S. Navy for more than eight years, including tours as the strike officer on the USS Princeton, and as the reactor mechanical division officer on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Poolman earned a bachelors degree in mathematics from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Im happy to welcome Kyle to Region I, said NRC Region I Administrator Raymond Lorson.
His Naval experience and his NRC training leave him well-suited to serve as the Ginna Resident Inspector. He and Chris will work together to ensure the plant continues to meet the agencys standards.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who monitor day-to-day plant operations. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, overseeing significant projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
