No: I-22-015 November 21, 2022 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Resident Inspector at Salem Nuclear Power Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, have selected Eli Garcia as the resident inspector at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station. He joins Senior Resident Inspector Jake Dolecki at the two-unit site operated by PSEG Nuclear LLC in Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.

Elis intensive training and education make him a good addition to our resident inspector ranks, said Region I Administrator David Lew. He and Jake will work together to carry out our inspection program and assure that the Salem units continue to operate safely.

Garcia began his NRC career in June 2020, as a reactor engineer in the NRCs Region I office. He completed a rigorous inspector qualification program. Most recently, he was a project engineer in the Resident Inspector Development Program and has served as the acting resident inspector at Hope Creek Generating Station. Garcia graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering.

At least two NRC resident inspectors are assigned to each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.

Resident inspectors can serve at a reactor site for up to seven years.
