No: I-24-001 January 29, 2024 CONTACT: Diane Screnci, 610-337-5330 Neil Sheehan, 610-337-5331 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Power Plant The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected Christopher Kline as the senior resident inspector at the Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant in Scriba, New York. He joins Resident Inspector Beth Sienel at the two-unit site, which is operated by Constellation Energy.
During his time at Nine Mile Point, Christopher has developed a solid working knowledge of the plant, said NRC Region I Administrator Ray Lorson. Combined with his decades of service with the nuclear Navy, he is eminently qualified to take on this role.
Kline joined the NRC in January 2021 at the agencys Region I Office in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. He began serving as a resident inspector at Nine Mile Point in September 2021 and more recently has been working as the acting senior resident inspector at the Columbia nuclear power plant in Washington State.
Previously, he served as an officer in the Navy for 31 years. His most recent assignment was as a deputy submarine commander in Silverdale, Washington.
He holds a bachelors degree in nautical science from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant has at least two NRC resident inspectors who serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring safety-significant projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. Resident inspectors can serve at a reactor site for up to seven years.
