Northrop Trigs Reactor Final Report

Dear Mr. Denton:

The accompanying Snal report describes the results of our work toward decommis-sioning the Northrop Triga Reactor. It is submitted in support of our request for termination of our license No. R-90 and return of our facility to unrestricted use.

The report shows that we have followed very closely the Decommissioning Plan submitted to you January 14, 1985 from the initial organization planning to the final survey. The reactor fuel, ancillary equipment and instrumentation were dis-posed of through gifts to worthy Universities. Radioactive waste was carried to Hanford for disposal and non-radioactive waste was disposed of locally after the proper permits were obtained.

The final survey has been perform,ed. It shows that we meet the specifications in NUREG 1.86 as well as the NRC staff position of 5 pR/hr above background at 1 meter above any surface. At this point, we cordially invite your inspectors to visit us to confirm our findings and, if they concur, recommend return of our facility to unrestricted use.

Very truly yours, L
