Subject:

Change to Bases for Technical Specification 3.8.1.1,

" Electrical Power Systems - A. C. Sources" Gentlemen:

The Reference issued Amendment No. 101 to Facility Operating License No. )

NPF-42 for Wolf Creek Generating Station (WCGS). Amendment No. 101 revised i Technical Specification 3/4.8.1, ' Electrical Power Systems-A. C. Sources," and its associated Bases to achieve an overall improvement in emergency diesel generator reliability and availability. ,

1 WCGS Technical Specification 3.8.1.1, Action b and Action c specify the required actions to be taken with inoperable A. C. electrical power sources.

Action b specifies the required actions to be taken within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
with one inoperable diesel generator. Action c specifies the required actions to be taken within eight hours with one inoperable diesel generator and one offsite ;

power circuit inoperable. l Review of the Bases, issued by the Reference, has identified that the second paragraph of Bases page B 3/4 8-2 should be revised to better define the time restraints associated with Technical Specification 3.8.1.1, Actions b and c.

The verbiage, which had been revised by Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation (WCNOC) in the Bases, does not make a distinction between the 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
requirements of Action b and the eight hour requirements of Action c.

WCNOC is providing the revised Bases change to reflect this difference and i requests that the NRC issue the revised Bases page change.
