SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT N0. 50 238/96-01
Dear Dr. Levine:
On October 31, 1996, the NRC completed an inspection of the N.S. Savannah
moored at Fort Eustis, Virginia. The enclosed report 3 resents the results of
that ins)ection, which were discussed with you and mem)ers of the James River
Reserve : leet staff on October 31, 1996, following the inspection.
During the inspection, records were reviewed, procedures were discussed with
personnel, and direct observations related to radioactive materials handling
were made by the inspector. Based on those reviews, discussions and
observations, no violations were identified. 1

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of
this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
