Reference:

(a) Amendment No. 11 to Facility License No. NS-1 Gentlemen:

In accordance with reference (a), the following information is hereby submitted:

a. Status of Facility: The vessel remains moored as before.

No entry has been made into the primary containment vessel. The vessel was toured by over 250,000 visitors during the year. During the winter, cargo Holds 3 and 4 were prepared for use as museum exhibit space, in-cluding providing a double stairway between "B" and "C" deck of Hold No. 3, and cutting doors between Holds 3 and 4 on "B" deck. An entry door was cut through the hull in Hold 3, "C" deck and is now the museum visitor access. Hold 3 "B" was completely insulated and is climatically controlled. As a result of this project, over 11,000 square feet is available for museum use, and is accessible to the visitor. Public restrooms have been constructed in Hold 4B. An underwater hull inspection was conducted in December 1986. Results were satisfactory.

See enclosure (4).

b. Results of the Semi-Annual Radiation Surveys and Monitoring Station Dosimeter Readings: See enclosure (1). Note that one survey was conducted. Amendment No. 11 dated August 20, 1985 changed the frequency to annual.
c. Results of the Semi-Annual Environmental Sample Analysis Survey: See enclosure (1).
