OVERVIEW Due to revisions in the monitoring'and reporting program, adopted' January 14, 1982 and amended October 7. 1982 both the reportino frecuency and the chemical constituents monitoraa nave changeo.
Results of our monitoring were reported cucrtariy for the first three ouarters of 1982, and monthly since ccrober. Tois ern"-I summary report will follow the new format usse in tne r ac rn-monthly monitoring reports.
Durino 1982 discharges were mede from all discharge paths exc.2c.
001-G, 001-H, 001-I, 001-J, 001-K, 001-L.
Appendix 1 contains a list of non-routine reports sent to starr during 1982.

Apoendix 2 contains a summary of the ecntnly volumas from discharge pathways'and botn tabular anc grapaical summaries of tha monitoring results creviously reported in ouarterly and mnnthly reports.
B. Monitorino of Receivino Waters
- 1. Ecolooical Studies at Dicblo Canyon Studies in eccordance with the Thermai Effects Monitorino Program (Provision 0.7) ano stuoics oy the California Department of Fish and G.tme centinue. A periodic raport by tne California Department of Fish and Game for the period January 1, 1979 - June iu, 1980 was submitteo in the first cuarterly report of ,
1982. The annual report of the TEMP program is l submitteo with this package (Appendix 3).
- 2. Sediment Analysis Annual sediment samples were collected on October 28, 1982. Results of analysis were presented in the December report.
- 3. Aerial Photography of Kelp Beds --
Aerial photography (infrared film -type 2443) of kelp beds in the vicinity of Diablo Canyon were taken February 18, July 1 and September 20, 1982. Color transparencies of the photos wure submitted to staff in the respective quarterly and-monthly repcrts.

- 4. Surface Water Temperature Th;se measurements are not scheduled for monitoring until aftar plant thermal operation begins.
- 5. Stratified Water Tem pe r a t u re s These measurements are not scheduleo for monitoring until efter plant thermal operation begins.
- 6. pH and Dissolved Oxygen of Receiving Waters Results of pH and Dissolved Oxygen monitoring in the receivina wa.tprs were submitted to staff in the routine cuarterly and monthly reports.
7 Incident Licht Measurements Subsurface light measurements were not made this year since the main circulating water pumps were operated only for the purposes of effluent mixing oye tests.
- 8. Environmental Radiological Monitoring Prooram
- 'onthly raciological determinations (gamma isotopic) cn s c uo t e r anc bullkelp, and quarterly samples on black ibalone, red abalone, perch and rockfish continued, and results are contained _in the routine reports.
- 9. In situ Bicassay Results of Mussel Watch will be reported-to the Board in the California Department of-Fish anc Game nariodic report for this program. Two perlocic samplings of mussels occurred in 1982, June 28 and December 14.
