SUBJECT:

Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Docket No. 50-410 Facility Operating License No. NPF-69 Withdrawal of License Amendment Request to Extend the Completion Time for One Emergency Uninterruptible Power Supply Inverter Inoperable (TAC No. MC6561)

Gentlemen:

By letter NMP2L 2120 dated April 1, 2005, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) requested an amendment to Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Operating License NPF-69. The proposed amendment would have revised Required Action A.1 of Technical Specification (TS) 3.8.7, "Inverters - Operating," to extend the Completion Time for one emergency uninterruptible power supply (UPS) inverter inoperable from 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
to 7 days.

Subsequent to the amendment request submittal, NMPNS has installed a redundant emergency UPS inverter unit in each of the two safety-related electrical divisions. This plant modification reduces the potential for a TS-required plant shutdown due to an inoperable inverter, since the redundant inverter unit can now be placed in service. Therefore, NMPNS hereby withdraws the license amendment request referenced above.

If you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact James A. Hutton, Director Licensing, at (315) 349-1041.
