Dear Mr. Denton:

SUBJECT:

Grand Gulf Nuclear Sta -; '46 Units I and 2 ,,

, Docket Nos. 50-416 and 50-417

  • File 0260/0272/L-860.0/0092/0109 Extension of Construction Permit Dates AECM-81/508 .

Mississippi Power & Light Company (MP&L), on behalf of itself and as agent for Middle South Energy, Inc. and South Mississippi Electric Power Association (collectively referred to herein as " Applicants"),

herewith files the following request pursuant to 10 CFR 2.109 to amend Construction Permit CPPR-118 for Unit No. 1 of the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station to extend the latest completion date for Unit No. I to November 1, 1982.

Applicants presently expect to be ready to receive the Operating License for Unit No. 1 prior to the current latest completion date of March 1, 1982, in the Construction Permit. However, because events beyond the control of Applicants, such as problems with pre-operational testing, final inspection and quality assurance work relating to the

! facility, and assuring that all applicable NRC requirements are met, including those requirements resulting from THI, could delay cocpletion of construction and issuance of the Operating License until after March 1, 1982, Applicants hereby make this request for an extension of the latest completion date in the permit.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 170.22, a check is attached for $1,200.00 (Twelve Hundred and No Hundredths Dollars) as required for a Class 11 pro forma, administrative amendment, having no safety or environmental significance.

l Yours truly,  ?
