"At approximately 0819 EDT on August 31, 2013 an endangered species Kemp's Ridley sea turtle was recovered during raking operations at the circulating water intake structure. Public Service Electric and Gas [PSEG] Nuclear Environmental Affairs was contacted and the sea turtle was determined to be deceased @ 1400 EDT. PSEG Nuclear Environmental Affairs has contacted the National Marine Fisheries Service and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. This is a 4 hr report to the NRC under 10CFR50.72(b)(2)(xi) because notification to other government agencies have been made.

"The Report was made to the National Marine Fisheries Service at 1435 EDT and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection at 1437 EDT to inform them of the deceased sea turtle."

The licensee will also be notifying the NRC Resident Inspector and Lower Alloways Creek Township. R1DO (Newport) notified. The NRC Endangered Species Group has been provided a copy of this logbook entry via e-mail.
